Are you tasked with being the face of your organization's public message but unsure if you have all the right tools? This engaging, two-day course is designed for public information officers and leaders who oversee public messaging but are looking to build a guiding strategy. During this interactive course we'll help you refine the art of crafting messages, whether it's sharing good news or managing a crisis. From social media posts to news conferences, we'll cover the broad spectrum of public messaging as we combine theory, case studies, and practical exercises in a low pressure, adult-learning format. You'll leave with a strategic roadmap for success. Training topics include:
· Uncovering Good News Stories That Resonate
· Run It Like a Newsroom: A PIO Strategy
· Messaging in Real Time through Social Media (with case study)
· Media Relations from News Releases to News Conferences
· On-Camera: Mock News Conference Practical Exercise
· Legal Considerations for Government PIOs
The course capstone, mock news conferences, allows you to practice handling the tough questions under the stress of the lights in a safe, risk-free environment, with valuable feedback provided by an experienced communicator.
Effective public communication has never been more complex or more important. Obtain time-tested tools to communicate through the good news and the inevitable critical incidents by a sought-after instructor, Chief Christopher Mannino (Ret.).
Christopher Mannino, a retired chief of police from the Chicago area, is an FBI National Academy graduate and National Policing Institute Executive Fellow who led his agency through multiple crises and critical incidents. He is now Vice President of Julie Parker Communications and is internationally recognized as a crisis communications expert.
Training certificates are issued upon course completion.
