When a crisis happens, having a written plan is not enough. The outcome depends on how prepared and confident your team is to put that plan into action. In high-pressure situations, clear and timely communication is essential, especially when decisions and messaging are under close public and media attention.

This engaging, fast-paced two-day course provides practical strategies and real-world guidance to help participants communicate effectively during critical incidents and challenging public situations. Through hands-on exercises and realistic scenarios, participants will build the skills needed to make sound communication decisions, deliver accurate and timely messaging, and help maintain public trust.

Topics include:

  • Messaging in real time through social media (with case study)
  • The art of the effective news release
  • Managing misinformation online and in the media
  • Navigating the complex world of media relations
  • Winning the news conference from prep to post-conference
  • Practical exercises that put the training into practice
  • Mock news conference scenarios

Effective public communication has never been more complex or more important. Obtain time-tested tools to communicate through the inevitable critical incidents from a sought-after communications instructor.

Instructor Christopher Mannino,a retired chief of police from the Chicago area, is an FBI National Academy graduate and National Policing Institute Executive Fellow who led his agency through multiple crises and critical incidents. He is now vice president of Julie Parker Communications and is internationally recognized as a crisis communications expert.

Training certificates will be sent upon completion.
