This dynamic course equips public safety professionals, government leaders, and communications personnel with the skills to lead messaging when a crisis strikes, whether it’s a fast-moving critical incident or a reputational challenge targeting the organization. Participants will learn how to anticipate, shape, and deliver clear, credible, and timely communication when it matters most. 

Topics include: 

  • Developing and executing a strategic crisis communications framework 
  • Crafting messages that protect trust and credibility under pressure 
  • Real-time messaging through social media, including case studies 
  • The art of the effective news release 
  • Managing misinformation and disinformation online and in the media 
  • Navigating complex media relations during a crisis 

Effective public communication is now both more complex and more essential than ever. This course shares time-tested strategies and practical tools.Led by a highly sought-after crisis communications instructor, Emilie (Voss) Eager, ensuring you and your team are ready to lead when the stakes are highest. 

As a former journalist and public information officer, Emilie brings deep expertise in media relations and crisis communications, having led messaging through multiple critical incidents. Previously, Julie Parker hired her to help lead the Media Relations Bureau for the Fairfax County Police Department in Virginia. While there, she graduated from the PERF Senior Management Institute for Police. She was also honored as a three-time Emmy award-winning journalist during an extensive broadcast career. Emilie joined Julie Parker Communications after overseeing public relations for CARFAX.

Group Rate

Registration Transfer Policy  
We understand that schedules can change for busy public safety professionals. Purchased tickets are transferable to another student, or the registered person may apply the registration fee to another JPC course anywhere in the country within 24 months of the original scheduled course.  

Course Cancellation Policy  
While it happens rarely, Julie Parker Communications might need to cancel a scheduled program. We strive to make this decision at least 14 days before the training date(s) and promptly inform all registered participants. If JPC cancels a course, we will refund your registration fee. However, it's important to note that JPC cannot be held accountable for any financial losses resulting from cancellations or alterations in travel arrangements. 

Photo/Audio/Video Release
