This two-day crisis communications training, offered through the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, equips participants with practical, proven strategies for communicating clearly and effectively during high-pressure events. Whether managing public messaging, addressing the media directly, or navigating a fast-moving incident, participants will gain tools that strengthen clarity, credibility, and public trust.
The training guides participants through the full crisis communications process, which includes developing key messages, preparing for on-camera interviews, determining what information to release and when, and using social media responsibly during unfolding events. The curriculum blends foundational principles with hands-on practice to ensure skills are immediately applicable.

Day two concludes with a capstone experience that features mock news conferences. These exercises have a maximum student-to-instructor ratio of 25-to-1, ensuring that every participant receives meaningful coaching and individualized feedback.
The instructors are Julie Parker, a national crisis communications expert and award-winning former journalist, and Chief Christopher Mannino (Ret.), an experienced law enforcement leader known for his work in transparent and community-focused communications.
